This aircraft was used by Ergänzungs Gruppe JG54, an operational training unit. Several of it's aircraft were old ones that had been used by JG54's operational Gruppen. This example being from 8./JG54 and having retained that unit's markings. The insignia of the Erg.Jg has been added to the engine cowling. The camoflage is the standard camopattern worn by II./JG54 at the start of operation Barbarossa. It was first used by II./JG54 in late 1940. The dark lines consisted of RLM70 while the lighter mottles in between where in RLM02. This scheme was added directly to the airframe and was propably used both on RLM65/02/71 painted aircraft as well as RLM 74/75/76 ones. Many of these F-2's where manufactured at the time when factories where switching from the early greens to the later greys making it impossible to say for certain which colors where used. The fact that the spine of the aircraft was often repainted in RLM70 as well makes it even more diffcult to establish whether an aircraft had RLM74/75 or 02/71 as it's basic camo.
