Max-Hellmuth Ostermann

This aircraft was manufactured by WNF and was flown by Ostermann in the spring of 1942. It was 90% damaged in a bellylanding on May 10th, 1942, after being hit in the radiator. The aircraft was initially finished in the standard colorscheme of RLM 74/75/76 with the fuselage sides oversprayed with a dark green, possibly RLM 70 with the fin and rudder left in it's original mottle. This aircraft wore a Staffelkapitäns pennant on the aerial mast.

In the spring of 1942 the aircraft wore an intermediate scheme with half the fuselage and most of the port wing painted light grey. The color looks to uniform to be a faded, white, wintercamo but it still  remains a possibilty.

The rudder of 13088 marked with 97 victory bars on May 10th, 1942. Two days later, Ostermann would score 3 victories to reach the century mark. No. 100 was over a 154 or 158 IAP P-40 at 10:53.

The Staffelwappen of 8./JG54 was worn on both sides of the enginecowling
