In the winter of 1942 - 1943, 7./JG54 flew colorful Gustavs with the white numerals replaced by blue ones that stood out better against the white camoflage. Additionally, as 7./JG54 was the only staffel of III./JG54 to retain it's unit markings when the white color was added, their aircraft became the most colorful in the Gruppe.
